The seat is cushioned and has the option of knee blocks for a secure seat, and puts the rider in a good, aligned position, while featuring a very nice twist, this twist is a standout feature of Ghost saddles - it offers relief for those riding wide horses, or who have hip issues. The billets can be adjusted forward or behind depending on where your horse's girth groove is and there are two stirrup positions. With great wither and spinal clearance, the Ghost saddle is also very lightweight and an excellent and beautiful custom made saddle for the price!

Although we recommend a rider-weight limit of 80kg, do not hesitate to contact us for a discussion if you exceed this threshold; good balance and adequate padding can compensate for those extra kilos. Many Endurance riders are having great success with the Ghost saddle with several professional teams riding 100k+. for longer distances we recommend a suitable Endurance numnah and, as with any saddle for this discipline, regular saddle-checks for distances over 40km.

GHOST CLASSICS - ITALY, LIPICA, FLAMENCO
The 'Classics' Ghost range feature position-able knee blocks, secured under a stylish double flap.
The Classics naturally come with the hidden pommel, however you can request a visable pommel.
Due to the double flap, switching the seat out is not recommended for these models.
UPDATE - You can now order these saddles as a mono flap!
You may like to consider the Cavallin girthing option for these saddles, as its less bulky between the double flaps.
The Cavallin rigging was introduced with the Puro endurance saddle and quickly became a favorite of many people for several reasons. Many have found it to be more stable, both front to back and side to side although that does vary with horse conformation/motion and a couple have found the opposite! It is smoother/slimmer under the leg and less complicated. You can still adjust the girth position to the saddle position by using different holes of the billet straps. Some people have also seen less flopping when lunging.

GHOST - CAVALLIN SADDLES
The Cavallin range by Ghost is built upon the same base as the Ghost saddles, with a few small differences. There is a velcro stirrup attachment plate, which can be moved forwards or backwards for optimal stirrup position (you can also choose to have the original 2 stirrup rings fixed on the base too) and the girthing is the new Cavallin option (though you can choose to have the original Ghost girthing too)

For the Crusader model the Girthing attachment is fixed, and beds the saddle down to offer wonderful stability and a low profile. There is the option of the hidden or standard pommel .

*Please Note ~ While Ghost saddles offer so much freedom and benefits when it comes to saddle fitting & riding, they do have their limits in that they have a maximum rider weight of around 80 - 84 kgs and a seat restriction size of size 16 ladies jeans (for the buttera this is around a size 14) If you are just over this weight range (but not over a size 16 jeans!) but are a balanced rider who is light in their seat, and you have a healthy backed horse, then please contact us to discuss options!
GHOST ACCESSORIES

The Front Riser is perfect for those who's pelvis makes them feel they tip forward, or to help deepen the seat feel - we always recommend testing one! The cantle reducer makes the seat smaller/snugger. |
Stirrup Leathers + KeepersBlack or Brown Biothane Stirrup Leathers. $75

Stirrup Keepers velcro around by the bottom of your stirrup leathers to neatly tuck away any loose stirrup leather ends. Lends a neat and polished look to the saddle. |
T Bar Webbers + Keepers $90For those who prefer a Webber style stirrup strap, Ghost has designed a T-bar stirrup strap. The top has a nylon loop that goes through the stirrup ring and there's a leather cover for the T-bar.
The hole in your stirrup needs to be 30mm x 10mm (1.25" x 0.25") minimum for the T-bar to fit through. Available in a range of lengths 50cm, 60cm, 70cm or custom in black or brown biothane. |
English Slide On Fenders $150If you sometimes want the protection of a fender and sometimes want the freedom of riding with only a stirrup strap between you and your horse, the slip-on fender is a great option to save money as well as great convenience. These fenders will work best with Ghost or other thin biothane stirrup straps, not thick leathers. Standard length of the channel is 14" or 35cm. If you need longer, you can use stirrup strap keepers to hold the fenders higher, or order a custom length.
Available in a range of leathers + colours. |
Western Fenders $290If you want the look of a western fender, Ghost makes 2 different options. If you need the ability to choose either the front or rear stirrup ring, then the single strap fender can be ordered for a 1" english stirrup top bar or a 2", 2.5", or 3" top bar for endurance or western stirrups. For those who would like a little more stability for their lower leg, the 2-strap western fender uses both stirrup ring and can be ordered for a 2.5" or 3" top bar for an extra $10
Available in a range of leathers + colours. |
Ghost Girth $120Ghost Westip Girth - The entire length is slightly elastic for comfortable grip to the horse. Great help if saddles slip front-back or side-side on your horse. These girths are also very thin, so if your horse is smaller or the saddle is likely to put the girth into the armpits of your horse, the Ghost Westip is a great choice. Girths are available in 5cm increments. 60cm is roughly 24".
|
Girth Guards $40These slip on over girth straps if there is a bigger gap between the bottom of your pad and the girth (short flap saddles or larger horses). They can also be ordered with the top layer to match your saddle color. Backing options are neoprene, wool, or sheepskin (additional cost for sheepskin.) Sold as a pair.

Puro Cavallin Girthing $110Many have found the Puro rigging to be more stable, both front to back and side to side. It is slimmer under the leg and less complicated. You can still adjust the girth position to the saddle position by using different holes of the billet straps. Some people have also seen less flopping when lunging. Comes with strapping and girth plate.
If you want to swap to the Puro girthing - do note first we need to check the rings on your girthing are wide enough to fix the puro rigging to. |
Bottle Holder $80The water(or wine!) bottle holder. Made in the same colours as your saddle (or any colour!)

We aim to have your saddles seat placed in the position where you would naturally sit if riding bareback, which for the rider is usually just behind the horses’ withers and scapula, which is where the horse is most able to carry the rider with ease. The panels are constructed in a way that gives the horse plenty of space to move the shoulders underneath. As long as you are not sitting on top of the withers (but just behind it) there is no harm for the horse.
Even though Ghost aesthetically simulates an english saddle, the panel length construction idea is closer to that of a Western, where the final part of the skirts lie over the lumbar, because they are not bearing weight. Roughly 20-25cm of the TOTAL LENGTH of the saddle is non weight bearing. For a 60cm panel the weight baring part is only 35-40cm. This is where you have to look.
As long as you the rider are not SITTING behind the 18th vertebrae, the little part of the "completely flexible cantle" won't harm the horse
The pommel area and the front of the panels on the Ghost saddle is also non weight baring, so the horse can still move his shoulder freely.
You do want to make sure the seat is the correct size for you, so as to avoid overloading the cantle or pommel - you should be able to lift both the front and rear panels slightly while seated in your saddle.
Unlike traditional treed saddles, there is no rigid tree to interfere with and pinch the shoulder of the horse, so the treeless saddle can be placed further forward then you may be used to.
