Ghost Treeless Saddles from Italy. The new Ghost treeless saddle features a well thought-out design, and the latest treeless technology. Ghost is a treeless saddle that is highly adjustable. Ghost features a strong but semi flexible base which stirrups and girthing are hung from for great weight distribution, with pressure distributing panels that velcro onto the bottom for custom spinal clearance. The seat is cushioned and has the option of knee blocks for a secure seat, and puts the rider in a good, aligned position, while featuring a very nice twist, this twist is a standout feature of Ghost saddles - it offers relief for those riding wide horses, or who have hip issues. The billets can be adjusted forward or behind depending on where your horse's girth groove is and there are two stirrup positions. With great wither and spinal clearance, the Ghost saddle is also very lightweight and an excellent and beautiful custom made saddle for the price!

Ghost Treeless Saddle Information

Way back in the year 1990, Camillo Cavallin acquired his name as one of the original designers of the modern-day treeless saddles, including the Torsion saddles. From the start, Camillo made it his mission to turn an ancient principal into contemporary saddles that put the comfort and welfare of horse and rider first. Over the years, his continuous research and development of the highly acclaimed GHOST saddles earned him a remarkable reputation. Still the leading light at GHOST, he has now dedicated his name to his personal twenty-first century brand of treeless saddles; the CAVALLIN range. We are proud to supply both GHOST and CAVALLIN Treeless Saddles, handmade in Italy.

Ghost are a new generation of treeless saddle that are light weight, breathable and adaptable. Ghost Saddles are an innovative and well priced treeless saddle, that is proving extremely versatile when it comes to saddle fitting, and that is gaining popularity world wide with horse and rider alike!

Made from environmentally friendly leathers (and non leathers for vegan saddles) the Ghost saddles have been designed to offer a saddle that will flex and adjust to the individual horse, offering comfort and protection for the horses delicate back, while also remaining supportive and safe for the rider. Ghost are a treeless saddle with a great twist! People with bad hips rejoice as they no longer have to straddle their horses as with so many other treeless. With no hard or restrictive parts, your horse is able to flex his back, stride out freely, and move his shoulders without pinching. Riders are often amazed to discover how responsive and free under saddle their horse suddenly becomes!

The Ghost Base

The base - the core of your  GHOST saddle - is made from layers of strong and flexible material.
  • • Micropell (synthetic leather)
  • • Montecchio (fabric from Nylon and Polyurethane)
  • • Carbon (reinforcements around the stirrup- and rigging)
  • • Biothane Granite (belting)
  • • Steel (1 - 2mm inside the arch)
  • • Stainless steel for rings and studs

There is no pressure across the spine. Ghost offer the choice of two stirrup positions, with front rings that offer a more general purpose feel, or rear rings for a classical position. The girthing system is on a slideable V system, that due to its positionable nature, allows you to position the girth in the correct place, which is very helpful for horses with a forward girth groove.
The structured pommel of the Ghost saddle is also unique, being strong yet flexible & self adjusting, and this flexes to fit even very wide equines.

Ghost Base Panels

Attaching to the base of the saddle via industrial strength velcro is the sympanova lined base panels, filled with high density pressure absorbing materials. The panels are movable on the base, enabling one to create a custom spinal channel suited for each individual horse. Ghost base panels provide excellent weight and pressure distribution, a clear spinal channel and also aid in the stability of the saddle.

The Ghost Seats

The Seat of your Ghost saddle is also an individual piece, and attaches via velcro and pull through d rings. Having a separate seat opens up the possibility of having one saddle base but with different seats for different needs. As long as the seat and base are the same size, you can quickly change your saddle seat to suit your preferences. Perhaps mother and daughter want to share the same saddle, but have different style preferences? With Ghost you can simply peel one seat off the base, and replace with another in minutes. You can switch from a short flap angled knee block seat, to a classical black dressage saddle with no knee blocks quickly and easily!

Riders

Ghost saddles are great for many riders, especially those on table top horses, children & mothers, older riders, or those with bodily pains, as the Ghost is a lightweight saddle, weighing around 4.5 kg (without stirrups) and offering a comfortable and secure seat, that puts you in a classical, well balanced position. What is also unique about Ghost saddles is the excellent 'twist' they offer, this means the saddle is more narrow and built up under your seat area, so on a wide horse you will still be able to sit comfortably.  Many treeless saddles have you straddling your horses width (or more with the layers of saddle & pads) and the feeling of doing the splits every time you mount up can put many riders off treeless! Ghost however alleviates this feeling, and for riders who suffer with bodily pains, we receive wonderful feedback from those who have had hip operations and are delighted to discover they can ride again once more.

Personalized Saddles

Another aspect that makes the Ghost saddles unique is the fact that they will allow you to personalize your individual saddle. Not only can you specify your leather and colour choice, but Ghost will also take into account your personal needs, such as removing knee blocks, lowering the cantle to aid in dismounting for those with stiffness, lengthening saddle panels or shortening fenders, the simple things that make your riding more pleasurable. So If you have specific needs, do feel free to get in touch and we can see what Ghost can do to help you.

Fitting Help

*Please Note ~ While treeless saddles offer many benefits when it comes to saddle fitting & riding, please note they do have a limit in that they have a maximum rider weight of around 85kgs, and need to be used with a specialized saddle pad.  If you are over this weight but balanced and have a healthy backed horse, please contact us to discuss options. Very high withered horses are generally not suitable and those with wither pockets are not suitable.*
